Traveling is such a rewarding thing, but it is also one that can drain your bank account pretty quickly. We want to help you to see the world, even if you are on a budget. So, we have some hacks to help you find affordable flights!
Book in advance
We know that it isn’t always possible to book too far in advance, but as soon as your plan is set, we recommend booking your flight! As the date approaches flights will start to get more and more expensive, and you will miss out on the deals. The only time this doesn’t work is if you are flying extremely last minute. Then you may find a clearance-priced flight the day before, but you are running a high risk of not getting a flight at all. That’s why we recommend, if you can, book that adventure as far in advance as possible!
Get a rewards card
If you aren’t already signed up for a frequent flier number from all major airlines, what are you waiting for? That is one of the easiest ways to get cheaper flights. Not only does it reward you for flying more often, but they will alert you of sales or price drops on flights you have been eyeing. You can even take this one step further and apply for a rewards credit card. By using that card on small purchases—like buying bathing suits and other necessities for your trip—here and there and paying it off, you can rack up miles instantly. If you don’t want your spending to get out of hand with a card like this, have an automatic payment made from that card once a month and don’t use it for anything else. It will take longer to rack up those miles and rewards, but it will keep your budget in check!
Look up the best deals
The easiest way to find flights of course is from the airline’s website. But then you would have to open up multiple tabs, enter your details again and again, and try to compare them all. Let someone else do all that work for you, that way you can compare flights easily. This makes it so you can get flight deals from Chicago, Orlando, or Los Angeles, and only have to search one site! This will significantly cut down on travel anxiety, and will allow you to focus on preparing to have some fun. Websites that do all that for you really are a dream come true.
Search in secret browsers
If you have been searching for your flight over and over again, you may notice the price increasing the more you look at it. If this is the case, we suggest using an incognito tab within your browser. This will eliminate your search history, so the airline sites won’t pick up on your previous searches for that flight. Hopefully this means that you can get the best ticket price for you and the family. Now, some sites say this is a myth, but we think it’s worth trying to find out.
Fly in the off season
Now, we know this one isn’t going to be as easy to do because of the kiddos being in school or having extracurricular obligations, but if you can travel in the off season, you are likely going to save tons on airfare. Plus, you will be able to see a new place without hordes of tourists. In addition to that, you may find more deals once you are in the destination because they won’t have their peak season pricing in place. Of course, we know this may be difficult, and there are sometimes reasons people don’t travel to certain places in the off season, but it is worth a shot to do some research and see where you can go.
We hope that wherever you go, you make memories to last a lifetime, all while staying under budget.
