EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle prepared to sell Wilson
Newcastle are ready to sell Callum Wilson for a cut-price £18million.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham are in the market for Wilson.
The Magpies have already turned a loan swoop down for the 31-year-old from Atletico Madrid, while AC Milan have also shown interest this month.
The Toon must sell before buying to remain within Financial Fair Play rules, and the centre-forward’s contract is up next summer.
United told to sign Olise
Man Utd legend Andy Cole has urged his former club to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.
Speaking to Betfred, he said: “I like the kid and he’s very talented. He proved he was a talented kid when he was at Reading and he’s shown that at Crystal Palace too.
“Regarding his injuries, injuries are part and parcel of football but judging him on his performances alone, he’s grown into that Crystal Palace team and he’s still only 22 years of age.
“Is he an upgrade on Antony? Most definitely. I read something that Dwight Yorke said about Antony recently and he claimed that he felt sorry for him and to a certain extent, I feel sorry for him too.
“To this day, I’m still unsure why they paid as much as they did for him and you can say he’s young and whatever, but I’m still waiting to see what he’s good at.
“If Olise does join in the summer, then he can bring a lot more to Manchester United because he’s very direct, he’s creative, he scores goals and he’s prepared to take people on.
“If the move happens, then it’s a signing that could take the team in the right direction.”
Zidane turns down job
Zinedine Zidane has turned down an offer to become the new manager of Algeria.
Zidane was flattered by the offer to replace Djamel Belmadi as head coach.
Belmadi was sacked following the Algerian national team’s group stage exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Algeria finished bottom of their group with two points after losing their final match to Mauritania on Tuesday.
According to L’Equipe, the French tactician has since been contacted to become their new manager but refused the proposal.
The 51-year-old, whose parents were both born and raised in Algeria, is said to have been flattered.
Newcastle eye Hojbjerg
Newcastle are lining up a shock move for Tottenham ace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Magpies are restricted in the business they can conduct during the January transfer window due to Financial Fair Play restrictions and will first have to sell players.
Yet despite their financial constraints, the Toon still drew up a five-man shortlist to bolster their midfield.
This consisted of Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips who joined West Ham on loan, Bournemouth’s Phillip Billing, Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney, Atalanta’s Ederson and Djurgarden’s Lucas Bergvall.
But now the Geordies have abandoned those targets as they look towards Hojbjerg.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle are eyeing up a loan move for the Denmark international.
Gimme a chance
Bournemouth ace David Brooks has opened the door to an exit during the January transfer window.
Brooks scored once and assisted two more in the excellent 5-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Swansea.
But the winger has made just two Premier League starts under the Cherries’ manager Andoni Iraola.
And the Wales international wants first-team football, with Championship duo Southampton and Leeds keen to secure a loan move.
Klopp’s next destination
Departing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s next job could see him either head into international management or take over a European giant after a 12-month break.
