Today, fans switched on to find the FIFAÂ Women’s World Cup 2023Â had taken its place.
Good Morning Britain runs every weekday between 6am and 9am yet, with the Philippines versus Switzerland finishing at 8:05am, the broadcaster had other ideas.
Instead they inserted a 55-minute episode of host Bradley Walsh’s brain-teasing programme to fill in the gap.
The unexpected The Chase show saw Andrew from London, Julie from Sheffield, Lauren from London and Boris from Durham all team up to attempt to defeat The Chaser.
The Chase usually airs at 5pm each weekday.
Today fans will be in for a double-dose, as it returns again at its usual slot for a second instalment.
A fan quickly took to Twitter to muse: “Can’t believe ITV are fitting in #TheChase after the football replacing #GMB just before #Lorraine.”
Yet daytime fans don’t wholly miss out, with the Lorraine show at 9am still keeping its slot.
Fans took to Twitter to comment, with one raging: “Not having #GMB on this morning was horrible!”
A second put: “They cancelled #gmb for women’s football?” as a third continued: “Where Is @GMB This Morning ? Never Known It To Be Off Before For Football World Cup.”
One then mused: “Why have they cancelled #GMB to show the football instead of sticking the football on ITV2?”
Meanwhile, The Chase fans were recently left open-mouthed as one contestant disclosed her real age.
Others were left stunned as Chaser Shaun Wallace got a very easy question wrong.
Some were also left besotted by a “total milf” on the series.
