Danielle always knew she wanted to get married in a “silly” way, so when she saw a handsome man asking for a woman’s hand in marriage on TikTok, she jumped at the chance to say, “I do.”
Gunnar had posted a video claiming he wanted to marry a stranger to prove life wasn’t that serious – and said he’d pay for the entire thing.
Two weeks later, the couple took a road trip to Las Vegas to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day in 2021.
Gunnar looked at tonnes of applications of women hoping to be a part of the experiment, but decided on Danielle.
On meeting her for the first time, Gunna bought a bunch of red roses and got down on one knee to propose.
Taking to social media, the couple revealed that they never expected to fall in love but reckon marrying a stranger was perfect for both of them.
Danielle said: “Our relationship isn’t perfect, but we got married as strangers, and here is some reasons why that worked for us.
“We went into this relationship with no expectations.
“The original plan was actually to get divorced after one week, so we really didn’t put any pressure on the relationship at all.
“We had no outside influence from our friends and family, meaning there was nobody there to plant seeds of doubt about the other person.”
Danielle added that neither of them would have picked each other on dating apps due to height and age preferences, proving neither of those things really matter.
“The experience allowed us to open our minds up to people outside of our typical dating pool,” she said.
“Neither of us would have went for each other at 1bar or on dating apps.”
The couple’s crazy love story has gone viral on TikTok and plenty of people have followed since the beginning.
The couple’s TikTok account @danielleandgunnar has amassed over 300k followers and 8million likes.
One person wrote: “This is still so wild to me. I feel like you also had strong positive vibes from everyone hoping you’d stay together.”
Another commented: “God tier couple.”
“Life’s a game & you guys won big for sure,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Omg I remember his original video, and the proposal but I totally forgot about this! Wow!!”
“Been here since the beginning. This is so amazing to see,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “The universe really brought y’all together I’ve been here since the beginning and I’m so happy for y’all.”
