Are you planning a hiking or beach trip?
One of the most important gears that you will need for such trips is a tent. Available in different sizes and shapes, there is the right tent for all your needs. Initially, tents were made with thick canvas, but today, they are created using different types of materials. Some of these tents work better in heavy winds, while others provide an unmatched level of stability.
In this article, we will be discussing some of the most common types of tents for sale that you can use for your next trip:
Dome Tent
The most common design of tent used today is the dome tent. It has two flexible poles crossing in the centre and anchored to the tent’s corners. They come in a wide variety of sizes that can be used by a single person or about eight people. There is a breathable tent in double-wall designs that are made of mesh and have a waterproof floor. In single-wall tents, the interior is waterproof, but it does lack the ease of breathability. Compared to other tent options, this is lighter, is easy to pitch, and has enough headroom. For extra storage, you can use a tent that comes with vestibules. The only downside is that they catch the wind and can be blown away or flattened.
A-Frame Tent
This tent has a simple design where it looks like the letter ‘A’. Originally made of canvas with wooden or metal poles, the modern versions of the tent use lighter-weight materials. It is easy to set up and is surprisingly stable. However, it is heavy and lacks headroom.
Multi-Room Tent
This is more like a house than a normal tent. Best suited for families, the main benefit of using this tent is the privacy it offers. Also, with multiple rooms, there is more space for storage. The drawback of using this type of tent is its size and weight. Pitching a multi-room tent will take more time and practice. Strong winds can be an issue for such a large tent. However, even with some drawbacks, this tent is the preferred choice for large families that need the extra space.
Backpacking Tent
A backpacking tent is the best option for people who like to go on a long-distance trek or multi-day hike. These are smaller than other tents and are lightweight. They have a small packed size, fewer poles, limited capacity, and a low ceiling which makes them suitable for only one or two people.
Geodesic and Semi-Geodesic Tents
In this type of tent, there are all the features offered by a dome tent accompanied with increased stability and support. Since the poles cross many times and intersect to create triangles, it gives a lot of stability to the tent. When it comes to bad weather and heavy rain, they do a better job than dome tents. But, they are challenging to pitch and larger to pack.
Pop Up Tent
Also known as instant tents, the pop-up tents come with springs and, within seconds, pop into shape. However, these are not to be used for extreme conditions. The main advantage of using this type of tent is the ease of use it offers.
Tunnel Tent
This tent is like the dome tent but is more cylindrical and longer. In this, guy ropes are used for pitching, which means that they are rarely freestanding. Since they offer identical pole lengths and a great space to weight ratio, you don’t have to worry about mixing up the poles. The main issue with these tents is that if they are not properly pitched, they tend to sag in the middle.
Teepee Tent
Originally the cotton canvas tent, the teepee tent has a high ceiling, needs only a single pole, and is easy to pitch. But, it has a high pitching point and is heavy. In most cases, flooring is not offered.
All the above-mentioned types show that there is a tent for all camping occasions. Once you find the right tents for sale, depending on your requirements, you will be able to have a great outdoor experience under the stars at an affordable price.
