Run by Madley Primary School, children are taught about environmental concerns, conservation and woodland management in an outdoors setting.
The royals got their hands dirty as they took part in skimming bark off logs and then getting handy with a saw to set up a tree den.
Wills and Kate were also gifted books for their children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
A seemingly excited Wills managed to accidentally knock a branch off the den while inspecting it although he managed to fix it straight away.
They told staff and pupils before they left: “More schools need the opportunity to do things like this.”
Madley Primary School and the Duchy of Cornwall have been partners of the Forest School programme for the past 12 years.
The Duchy supplied the school with a woodland site at Brampton Hill Wood in order to enable the Forest School to take place in Hereford.
Over the years, the woodland area has increased as well as the onsite facilities.
After the visit, the royal couple then went to Kings Pitt Farm to meet Duchy of Cornwall farming tenants, Sam and Emily Stables.
The couple, who have faced their own mental health issues, founded We Are Farming Minds, a charity working to support the mental health of farmers in rural communities around the county.
The initiative offers Herefordshire farmers access to a range of services including counselling, a 24-hour phone and text support line, free mental health awareness workshops and social events throughout the year to break feelings of isolation.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continued their loved up display today as they hugged and held hands at the Invictus Games.
The Sussexes looked cosy as they headed to yet another day filled with events this afternoon.
They joined crowds to watch the Ukraine v Nigeria volleyball competition this afternoon, with Meghan opting for a classy white outfit.
Prince Harry was clearly enamoured with his wife, giving her a tight squeeze and laughing by her side.
The pair looked in high spirits as they cheered on sporting teams in Dusseldorf today after meeting with NATO representatives earlier in the day.
