Maggie Hartz (@hartzaesthetics) is a physician’s assistant at a plastic surgery office and skincare pro who revealed a few treatments to try before getting Botox.
“As much as I love Botox, it really only addresses fine lines and wrinkles that you see on the skin as a result of muscle contraction,” she began in the video.
“But when it comes to preventative aging and maintaining youthful skin as you age, it’s so important to do treatments that are going to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, improve hyperpigmentation, and maintain overall skin quality.”
Whether you plan to get Botox or not, Maggie said you should always be working on your skin.
As for how you do that, she has an idea.
“What has been super effective for my patients is to do treatment stacking.”
She recommends stacking with a series of microneedling treatments and a series of pigment-reducing treatments, like CO2 lasers, lasers for rosacea, or chemical peels.
“Putting those two together really helps re-texturize the skin and remove all the pigmentation.”

While she said there is no one-size-fits-all approach to anti-aging, she believes a consultation will help you figure out if this treatment stacking will work for you.
Viewers thanked her for the tips and shared their own ideas.
“This! Microneedling works,” one person wrote.
“Finding the right exfoliants for me has made a huge difference because my fine lines were way more pronounced due to dehydrated/dead skin,” shared another.
“Drinking water, SPF, staying moisturized too,” added a third.
