A BEAUTY fan has revealed the budget-friendly product that healed her sensitive skin.
A routine with “too many” active ingredients combined with anxiety had caused her skin to become visibly irritated.

She shared the “non-traditional” way she transformed her appearance in a post on Reddit’s Skincare Addiction forum.
“Basically a combination of anxiety and too many actives completely fried my skin to the point that even something like TO [The Ordinary] hyaluronic acid stung when applied,” she said writing under the handle GirlyMathNerd.
“I had almost given up hope when I wanted to use something more intense than just petroleum jelly to slug.
“Even simple moisturizers were aggravating my skin to the point where my husband would point out how angry my skin would look.
“So, the only petroleum jelly-based thing I had on hand was A&D diaper rash ointment.
“It’s mostly just petroleum, lanolin, and cod liver oil- which is where it gets the vitamins A&D.”
The Redditor said A + D Baby Diaper Rash Ointment, Baby Protectant with Vitamins A and D smells like “sheep and cod liver.”
Despite the strong smell, she keeps it in her house for when sensitive parts of her body are feeling irritated.

It’s available to buy from Target for $5.69.
“I figured that if it was gentle enough for the most sensitive parts of my skin, the worst it would do would be break me out more,” she said.
“First night that I tried it, no stinging.
“Tried it for a few days, husband said that my skin was looking better. “
She then tried to use a different beauty product but her face began to look “angry” again.
She decided to continue using a “very thin layer” of A&D ointment each morning after washing her face.
“[In] the evening I oil cleanse with baby oil, second cleanse with vani cream and apply a liberal amount of A&D cream,” she said.
After a month of consistent use, the woman said her face still has redness but the “active” pus-filled bumps have lessened.
She has also been using Cerave’s morning moisturizer with SPF without any issues.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using petroleum jelly to moisturize, protect, and heal injured skin.
However, the “inexpensive” skincare product is not advised for acne-prone skin as it can trigger breakouts.
