South Korean musician Jeon Soyeon, the leader of K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE, has revealed that she makes up to US$700,000 in a month.
YouTube channel Pixid recently released the latest episode of its series Country Kitchen Dream, hosted by (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon. For the episode, the K-pop idol enlisted rapper Lee Young-ji as the guest, and during the show, the duo discussed how much they earn in the industry.
Lee revealed that her income has “extreme ups and downs”, a sentiment which Soyeon echoed. The K-pop idol then revealed that “in a really good month”, she has earned up to KRW1billion, which is roughly US$720,000. “But sometimes I might earn $100, that’s how it is,” she added.
In response, Lee jokingly said that Soyeon “earns more but reduced it a little”. She added: “I have a gut feeling, because the figures don’t add up.”
Notably, Soyeon has co-written and -produced the vast majority of (G)I-DLE’s discography since their 2018 debut, including international hits such as ‘Queencard’ and ‘Tomboy’. Outside of her work with the girl group, the K-pop star has also written songs for CLC, Apink‘s Namjoo and more.
Earlier this week, (G)I-DLE released the music video for their new single ‘Klaxon’, from their latest mini-album ‘I Sway’. The project is the follow-up to their January full-length record ‘[2]’, which featured the hit songs ‘Super Lady’ and ‘Fate’.
The girl group have also announced the cities and dates for their upcoming 2024 ‘i-DOL’ world tour, featuring concerts in Asia, the US and Australia. It’ll kick off next month in South Korea, followed by shows in Japan, the US, Tailand and more.
