Rooney’s old tweets
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney may be in for an awkward meeting the next time he sees Birmingham co-owner Tom Brady.
That’s after some of Rooney’s outspoken old tweets resurfaced about how much he dislikes the NFL.
Followers have discovered some classics, such as this from 2012: “Trying to watch the Super Bowl Final, how do they call this football. Like watching paint dry. Looking forward to the adverts and music.”
Birmingham’s new manager continued his rant by saying: “Seen more guys in studio than the players at the Super Bowl. Zzzzzzz hurry up music.”
United’s record goalscorer then expressed that he much preferred rugby league: “Rugby league is far better than super bowl. Leeds rhinos to win again. I know its mad but im a rhinos fan.”
Sok Bayern return
Ex-Arsenal ace Sokratis Papastathopoulos has been linked with a massive move to Bayern Munich.
According to Bild, Manchester United’s Champions League opponents are considering Sokratis to reinforce their defence amid an ongoing injury crisis.
Bayern’s starting centre-backs Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano have both been sidelined.
The German champions’ manager Thomas Tuchel could turn to Sokratis with whom he has a very good relationship.
Tuchel and the former Greece international worked together at Borussia Dortmund.
The Bavarians might wait until the end of the international break to fully assess De Ligt and Upamecano’s fitness.
On Der move
Manchester United are at risk of losing manager Erik Ten Hag’s right-hand to Ajax.
The Dutch giants have endured a disastrous start to the campaign which saw fans attack their own stadium after a 4-0 defeat to Feyenoord last month.
And the board have identified Ten Hag’s assistant Mitchell van der Gaag as the man for the top job in Amsterdam, according to De Telegraaf.
Maurice Steijn is currently still in position as manager after being appointed in the summer but his position is hanging by a thread after a poor start.
A lot hinges on whether Ten Hag would be willing to lose his right hand man and whether the club would give permission for this to happen.
Neville on Beckham
Manchester United legend Gary Neville claims David Beckham is with Adidas because of him – but he has not received the recognition he deserves.
Do you know something? You know David Beckham is with Adidas because of me.
I gave him his first pair of predators in the USA in 1994 and that is a true story. My friends at Adidas, I don’t get the actual recognition I deserve for that.

Take it as Red
Manchester United legend David Beckham has given an update that “there will be a takeover”.
There will be a takeover, it is the right time. We all have our opinions on who should take over. But in my opinion, it is about who cares about the club the most and will take the club back to where it should be.Everybody knows I am a Manchester United fan and I have been very vocal about the situation that is happening.
I grew up there from a young age with a lot of stability with the same manager and the same owners. Manchester United will always be one of the biggest clubs in the world.
We need to get back to that for the fans, the players, the manager because, at the moment, there is no stability. We need to get the talk back on the field, not off it.
I want to see an ownership group who will take the club back to what it should be. I am not saying the past owners have done a bad job but it is the right time for someone else to take over.

Dressing room rumour
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is the source of discontent in the “disgusted” dressing room, TalkSPORT’s Alan Brazil has been told.
This is after Ten Hag banished Jadon Sancho from the squad and facilities, including the canteen, following their public spat after the player’s training performances were publicly scrutinised.
The Dutch tactician also caught flak from many onlookers over his handling of Cristiano Ronaldo before the five-time Ballon d’Or winner departed for Al-Nassr.
This is only what I heard, a Man Utd player told someone I know very well that they are not having the manager. They’re not having him, definitely not.
By all accounts they’re disgusted at the way he treated Cristiano and they say Sancho is a great guy who works his socks off. So I don’t know who to believe to be honest.
