JURGEN KLOPP has revealed how his wife Ulla played the decisive role in him penning a new Liverpool deal until 2026.
The 52-year-old’s contract extension was announced on Thursday, with the German gaffer making a shock U-turn on his decision to depart.

Klopp declared last month how he planned on leaving Anfield when his previous deal expired in two years.
But the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager, who succeeded Brendan Rodgers in 2015, was convinced to stay on in Merseyside by his partner.
Speaking in a video shared by Liverpool’s Twitter account, he said: “I stay for another two years… and not only me. No, all my coaches will as well, which is the most important actually.
“Why? Is now the question. Because Ulla wants to stay and as a good husband what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You are staying.”
In an interview with the club’s website, he then remarked: “The most important contract I signed in my life was the one with Ulla.
“That’s where it started again. We sat in the kitchen at the table and Ulla said, ‘I can’t see us leaving in 2024.’ And I was like, ‘What?!
“That’s how it all started and when that started I thought ‘let’s have a think’.”
Klopp then added: “Ulla, she just loves it here.
“If she would say, ‘Honestly, I love the football and I love watching it but I actually want to go home’, then we would go, that’s the truth. She started it and here we are.”
Liverpool fans can also have Ulla to thank for Klopp rejecting the chance to take over Manchester United in 2014 after David Moyes was sacked.
In 2019, Reds legend Phil Thompson revealed how Klopp’s other half convinced him that a switch to Old Trafford would be a bad idea.
He told Denmark’s TV2: “I interviewed Klopp for Sky, and I asked if he and Liverpool were created for each other. He looked at me and asked ‘Why?’
“Then Klopp told me he could have taken over Manchester United, but his wife said it wasn’t right.
“When Liverpool arrived, his wife said it was right. There is something strange there. It is as if he’s created for Liverpool.”
