Wendy Williams says Trump has ‘every right’ to investigate the election results (Picture: FOX/Rex)
Wendy Williams has weighed in on Donald Trump’s controversial claims of election fraud and says the president has ‘every right’ to challenge the results.
Trump lost the US presidential election to his Democratic rival Joe Biden and has since repeated unfounded claims of election fraud while refusing to concede. He’s planning on taking legal action in major states where he lost to Biden despite not yet presenting any evidence of his allegations.
Sharing her opinion on Trump’s controversial move, Wendy said during Monday’s episode of her chat series The Wendy Williams Show: ‘I believe that Donald Trump, our president, has every right to investigate. If he feels that this election was stolen from him, then he has the right.’
The talk show host continued: ‘He and his chief counsel Mayor Rudy Giuliani who have been on TV all weekend long explaining to us exactly what’s gonna happen, then he has the right.’
However she asked: ‘Just, Mr President, if I could ask one favour of you on behalf of all of us? Don’t hold the process up too much. We must move on with our lives.’
On election day last week, Wendy hosted the show wearing a ‘vote or die!’ t-shirt. She reported on Lil Wayne and Lil Pump’s support of Trump but didn’t make it clear which Party she was endorsing herself.
When Trump was first running for the White House in 2015, Wendy said during an interview with Don Lemon: ‘I love Donald Trump. He’s a friend to the show, and if he wins, that’ll be my first time ever going to the White House.’
In that same interview, she did clarify that she wouldn’t be voting for him.
Wendy did criticise Trump last month when he told Americans to ‘not be afraid’ of coronavirus after he recovered from the illness himself.
Mispronouncing coronavirus, she said: ‘President Trump – Don’t be afraid of cornova? Don’t let it dominate your life?
‘Sir, are you serious? We are here, out in the field. We are frightened of cornova. You got it, so we could get it.’
