A search for a man who went missing after entering the sea this morning has been called off.
A major search mission was launched after a member of the public called 999 reporting that the man had gone into the water at North Pier, Blackpool, at around 9.30am.
Police, a coastguard helicopter, lifeboats and paramedics were all at the scene looking for the man.
The search was suspended at around 6pm, according to Lancashire Live. Witnesses told the news website that the sea was rough with bad weather conditions when the search got underway.
Teams scoured the coastline but the man could not be found. Holyhead Coastguard in north Wales, which co-ordinatied the search, said it had to be called off due to fading light.
