Free beer is one of a number of new incentives that President Joe Biden is offering in a sprint to reach his goal of having 70% of adults at least partially vaccinated by July 4.
Biden on Wednesday declared a month of action with continued public-private partnerships to boost inoculations and return the US to pre-pandemic normalcy by the Independence Day holiday. It includes a partnership with the brewing company Anheuser-Busch to provide one free once 70% of adults have at least one coronavirus shot.
‘Beer is on them on July the fourth,’ said Biden, speaking from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. ‘That’s right, get a shot, have a beer. Free beer for everyone 21 years or over to celebrate the independence from the virus.’
To date, 63% of adults have received at least one shot and 12 states have met Biden’s 70% goal. Among Americans over age 40, 73% have gotten at least one dose.

‘We need people under 40 to step up. Over 40 is doing much better,’ Biden said. ‘That’s why today, we’re announcing a month-long effort to pull all the stops, all the stops, to free ourselves from this virus and get to 70% of American vaccinated.’
St Louis-based Anheuser-Busch is giving away one beer, seltzer or non-alcoholic drink with brands including Budweiser, Michelob Ultra, Stella Artois, Natural Light and Bon Viv hard seltzer. Adults who want the free drink must upload a photo of themselves ‘in their favorite place to grab a beer, whether with friends at their favorite local bar and restaurant or with family in their very own backyard’.
The Biden administration also launched a partnership to bring vaccine education and jabs to more than 1,000 black-owned barbershops and salons, modeled after a pilot program in Maryland.
The White House also unveiled new partnerships with childhood centers like Bright Horizons, KinderCare, Learning Care Group and more than 500 YMCAs for free childcare for Americans looking to get the shot or recover from the side effects..
