A man whose home was robbed left a heartbreaking note for the burglar asked for something of no value to the criminal. The man pleaded for photos of his dog – but not just any photos.
The note, taped to a pole outside the home and shared on Quora, began: ‘To the man who was in my house and robbed me. Keep the cash, and my DSLR, and whatever else you took.
‘But if you have the memory card from the camera, please, it has photos of my dog’s last day alive on it.’
He continued: ‘I cannot replace those photos. Please throw it onto the porch or put it in the mail slot. Or mail it to (a blacked out address in Toronto, Canada).’
The man closed the note with a final appeal.
‘Please, she died a few days ago,’ he wrote. ‘I cannot lose those photos as well.’
The note, reported by The Mirror on Thursday, also included a number to text or call that was blacked out. It pulled on the heartstrings of many people on the platform.
‘Dude, just give them back the memory card,’ one person wrote. ‘Leave it in the mailbox or something.’
Another person shared sympathy and anger at the culprit: ‘I really hope the victim got the photos back. I also hope the man or women who robbed the house stubs their pinky toe on a heavy-duty chair leg every day for as long as they live.’
Others shared that they had experienced similar emotional tragedies.
‘Someone stole my sister’s phone while we were on our way to choose flowers for our mother’s funeral,’ a person wrote. ‘Her phone had some irreplaceable videos and pictures of our mum so it was a bigger loss than I can say.’
