The owners of a house with Banksy’s latest artwork on its wall have said they are still selling their home despite an art dealer said it could be worth millions.
Aileen Makin was all set to sort the paperwork for the sale of her semi-detached home next week. But her family decided to wait after the art dealer said it could go for £5 million because of the street artist’s work.
Banksy’s most recent coronavirus piece, showing a woman sneezing out her dentures which appears to knock over other houses in the street, appeared on Thursday.
The mural, named Achoo, skyrocketed the value of their Bristol home to much more than the average house price on their street – £300,000, according to Zoopla.
But after a brief think, the family will continue with the sale because of the unwanted attention that has ‘distressed’ Ms Makin.
Ms Makin’s son Nicholas told the BBC: ‘When you wake up to tabloids saying the house is now worth £5million you’ve got to think about what you’re doing… but it’s not changing anything.’

Nicholas said the artwork has cost them more money because they have had to pay for an alarm system and perspex screen to protect it.
It was also making living in the house difficult because people would congregate outside to see the piece while they were trying to sleep.
