Recently, alcohol companies have been releasing low or no alcohol versions of your favourite tipples for those who want to reduce their intake.
Anno Gin, however, has gone in the complete opposite direction, creating the world’s strongest gin with an alcohol by volume of a whopping 95%.
Not for the faint-hearted, the gin is flavoured with fennel, coriander, nutmeg and liquorice, and even has a warning label on the front so people don’t accidentally confuse it for ‘regular’ booze.
The Kent-based company say on their website: ‘Developed by scientists with a taste for adventure and pushing the limits of possibility, Anno Extreme 95 Gin was produced with one goal in mind – to create “the spirit of alchemy”.
‘A gin that packs more punch and flavour, drop for drop, than any other spirit in the world. We use an extended distillation with a mix of steeped and vapour infused botanicals to extract huge flavour, packed into a 20cl bottle.’
It beats the previous strongest by over 10% (Picture: Anno gin)
According to Anno, you can pour just 5ml of their Extreme 95 into your mixer, and it’ll taste just the same as a regular serve.
Or, a full 25ml measure will give you ‘a huge botanical hit with a higher strength’.
According to Lad Bible, the former winner of strongest gin was Strane Ultra Uncut with an ABV of 82%.
Anno Extreme 95 beats this considerably. Due to its high alcohol content it even comes with a mini measuring beaker, so you don’t end up free pouring and drinking way to much of the super-strength spirit.
For a 20cl bottle, it’ll cost you £30 from the Anno Gin website.
If you’re buying as a gift for a gin lover in your life, give them a very clear head’s up first. That could be a very bad hangover otherwise.
