“Top UK Cities with Sexy Accents – Check if Yours Made the List”

Hinge’s decision to introduce voice notes was iconic, not least because it gave us access to hundreds of sexy accents, giving us the chance to go on a date with someone who not only looks hot, but sounds hot, too.

But there’s a lot of contention around which accents we find cute, especially in the UK.

Some can’t resist a Scouse or Brummie accent, while others revere at the thought of spending hours locked in conversation with someone who sounds like the regional equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. 

But now, a survey of 2,000 people by online language tutoring service Preply has unveiled which UK accent takes the top spot for attractiveness – and we’re betting some people will be surprised.  

Taking the top spot was London which, however vague, is the accent that one in five Brits find the most romantic.

This was especially true for women, with just 15% of men voting for the London accent compared with 21% of women.

Next was Liverpool, which came second by a fairly large margin with one in 10 choosing scouse as the sexiest accent in the UK.

This was followed closely by Newcastle’s Geordie accent, with more men (12%) than women (9%) voting for Newcastle as the third hottest accent in the UK. 

Leeds was last on the list, with just 4% of Brits voting for the northern accent. 

Regarding regions, people in Yorkshire and Humber say they’re not all that fussed about accents, with 52.12% not finding them attractive at all. 

In contrast, nearly half of Greater London (47.18%) think that Londoners have the most attractive accent – there’s nothing like backing yourself. 

For the Northern Irish, 17.54% think that the Liverpool accent speaks the language of love, whilst 34.15% of people in the North East lust after the Newcastle accent.
