“Sex Outdoors: Is it Safe?”
YOU’VE probably heard about people enjoying some al fresco fun and getting intimate outside.
But, as the weather gets warmer and couples toy with the idea of having sex in the great outdoors, is it really worth the risk?

Many claim that it has spiced up their sex life and relationship, and that they can get turned on by the idea of being spotted by passers by.
But others have pointed out that there are strict rules and regulations when it comes to getting jiggy in public and that it could come at a high price – or even arrest.
Not to mention, countless couples have been caught in the act and left seriously red-faced.
So, here we chart the dos and don’ts of engaging in sexual activity outside – plus what the eyes of the law say about the controversial subject.
Is it safe to have sex outside?
The big question might be whether it’s safe to have sex outdoors – but the answer is a lot more complicated.
Just like with indoors, there’s lots of different things that could be considered a risk and it depends whether you’re in a park, car or hot tub.
But international educator Kenneth Play told Insidehook.com that there are some rules that are the same wherever you are.
He explained: “Beware of the usual things you would when having a picnic outdoors.”
The website continues that this includes everything from bugs to poisonous plants.
But, above all, it’s privacy that should be at the forefront of people’s minds.
Laura Borichevsky, founder and host of Sex Outside, a podcast about – rather aptly – having sex outside, also gave her hot take to the website.
She explained: “Look for a spot that has the right amount of privacy that will make you and any partners you might be with feel safe and comfortable.
“This includes being out of sight of trails and campsites, too, as other folks around you haven’t consented to being witness to someone else having sex.”
Meanwhile, it’s important to consider the legal repercussions of your actions on stripping off while getting hot and heavy where there could be prying eyes…
Is it illegal to have sex outside?
The subject of sex outdoors is a tough one, as while it’s not always considered illegal, there are a number of laws in place that directly relate to it and could land you in trouble.
For instance, the Sexual Offences Act of 2003 states that indecent exposure could be recognised as a type of sexual crime.
Therefore, if a person is seen to be displaying intimate parts of themselves while in public, they are at risk of finding themselves in hot water.
The same act defines sexual activity in a public lavatory as a crime.
While punishments may vary from scenario to scenario, most offences are punished with a caution or fines.

Can you get arrested for having sex outside?
As mentioned, while the act of having sex outside is not strictly prohibited, there are instances when it can lead to arrest.
According to The Bristol Post, a spokesperson from Avon and Somerset police said: “Having sex outdoors is not specifically illegal.
“However, anyone having sex in public could be arrested for exposure under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and for the common law offence of outraging public decency.”
