The rat-men who have taken over the internet are known for having angular faces, ears that stick out, and compact frames that give them a certain je ne sais quoi.
Taylor Swift’s ex, 1975 frontman Matty Healy, and Challengers stars Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist have also become poster boys for the trend.
And while your guy may not be able to go full vermin, he can emulate their signature hairstyles.
American Crew ambassador and barber Andrew Zumbo has shared the tricks and products that will help you give your man a mousy makeover just in time for summer.
STYLE INSPO
Several hairstyles fall within the hot rodent boyfriend category, according to Zumbo.
Saltburn star Barry, who recently made waves with his cameo in his girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please music video, has a classic short, textured cut.
Zumbo said this style “typically features a clean, tapered look on the sides and back, with the hair on top left slightly longer and styled in a natural, textured manner.”
“The look complements his features and allows for versatility, suitable for both casual and formal settings,” he explained.
On the flip side, Jeremy, who stars in the Hulu series The Bear, wears his curls in a “messy, loose textured style.”
Zumbo said the look “adds a sense of casual coolness to his appearance.”
BARRY’S STYLE TIPS

Zumbo detailed how to achieve Barry’s short, textured haircut using an American Crew beauty buy.
The American Crew Fiber, $14.97, is similar to hair gel but has a stronger hold.
Available on Amazon, this product provides “high hold with low shine,” according to its description.
“It’s perfect for creating texture and definition in short hairstyles like Barry Keoghan’s,” he said.
“It’s great for adding thickness and fullness to the hair while keeping it pliable for restyling throughout the day.”
STEP BY STEP
Zumbo advised towel drying the hair until it’s slightly damp before applying the gel.
“This will make it easier to distribute the product evenly and achieve the desired style,” he explained.
Next, he said to “emulsify” the gel, which means rubbing a small amount between your palms.
Then, work the product evenly through the hair, focusing on the roots and mid-lengths.
“For a textured look like Barry Keoghan’s, use your fingers to tousle and style the hair as you apply the product,” he said.
In the fourth and final step, style the hair as you see fit using your fingers or a comb.
JEREMY’S STYLE TIPS

Zumbo recommended using American Crew Fiber Foam and American Crew Forming Cream to recreate Jeremy’s tousled locks.
He explained that the foam adds thickness to the hair and “provides a strong, pliable home,” while the cream gives it definition with medium shine.
STEP BY STEP
Zumbo said you should start with towel-dried hair that is slightly damp and evenly distribute American Crew Fiber Foam, slightly scrunching the hair to diffuse dry the product.
Then add a small amount of American Crew Forming Cream and rub it between your palms to emulsify it.
Evenly distribute the product and work it through the hair, paying close attention to the roots and mid-lengths.
“For Jeremy Allen White’s messy, textured look, use your fingers to tousle and style the hair as you apply the product,” he advised.
Finally, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to lift the hair, focusing on the crown and front sections.
Zumbo explained that the styling technique creates volume and the “desired messy, textured effect.”
