Reece James shines back at wingback but Blues more than wasteful up front
REECE JAMES shined at Old Trafford but Chelsea still walked away with just a point.

Marcos Alonso’s opener was cancelled out moments later by Cristiano Ronaldo as the points were shared.
Here Jack Figg rates the Blues performers.
Edouard Mendy – 6
Given little to do bar pick the ball out of his net. Had no chance in stopping Ronaldo’s strike.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 5
Played Ronaldo on for United’s goal which was really the host’s only real attack all night until a goalmouth scramble at the end.
Thiago Silva – 6
Made some excellent passes over the top to try and unlock United’s defence. Was left largely unbothered elsewhere.
Antonio Rudiger – 6
Most influential on the ball, carrying it out from the back, passing forward or shooting from range.

Reece James – 8
Deployed back at wingback and reaped the rewards. His cross led to Alonso’s opener and hit the post right at the end.
N’Golo Kante – 6
Energetic throughout, driving with the ball and creating chances. But did give away the ball which led to United’s equaliser.
Jorginho – 6
Assured performance in the centre of midfield, covering well when needed as Kante bombed forward.
Marcos Alonso – 7
Superb volley to put Chelsea in the lead but had little major impact after. Much more comfortable at wingback opposed to a back four.

Mason Mount – 6
Lively playing as the No10 between Havertz and Werner, linking up well with the Germans and his wingbacks.
Timo Werner – 5
Showed great energy in the fast half getting in behind but lacked creativity on the ball thereafter.
Kai Havertz – 4
Missed two massive chances, missing a one-on-one and header. Should have also played in Werner, who was through on goal.

Romelu Lukaku (for Havertz (70mins) – 5
Held the ball up well but had no goalscoring opportunities.
