My husband’s mom think I’m awful because I improved her cookie bar recipe – I don’t understand why but she is hysterical
THERE are hundreds of stories about terrible mother-in-laws who always seem to make their daughter-in-law’s life more difficult.
Mothers can be possessive over their sons and sometimes feel no one should steal their attention.

A woman who goes by @Wickdconfections on TikTok shared a recent argument she had with mother-in-law—and the internet has her back.
“My husband’s mom makes these amazing cookie bars. She makes them for holidays and family gatherings, and people always request that she brings them.
“I asked her for the recipe once and she laughed and said no, that it’s hers and she never gives it to anyone.”
Because the woman loves to bake, she decided to try and recreate the cookie bar recipe on her own.

“After tweaking about five recipes, I finally nailed it. Then I decided to make it my own and improve it to my taste,” she said.
She swapped low-quality chocolate for a richer one, substituted vanilla extract with vanilla bean paste, and added a pinch of fine sea salt.
“The results were over the top delicious. My husband declared that they are better than his mom’s and finished the pan in two days.”
When the husband FaceTimed his mom while eating one of his wife’s cookie bars, things turned ugly.
“She asked what he had, and he told her it was one of her cookie bars but that I’d made the recipe even better,” the woman explained.
“She lost it and started yelling about how awful I am for making her cookies and that I had no right. She isn’t speaking to me or her son.”
Commenters took the daughter-in-law’s side:
“She’s acting like she had a trademark on cookie bars,” one person wrote.
“As long as you’re not bringing them to gatherings, you did nothing wrong. Husband shouldn’t have proudly claimed they were better than mom’s though…” added another.
