MILEY Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend Cody Simpson revealed to fans on Saturday that he’s qualified for his first Olympic trials in swimming.

The 23-year-old Australian singer said he only got back into the sport just a few months ago.

Cody, who split from Miley in August after almost a year of dating, shared the accomplishment on Instagram with a shirtless snap of himself by the pool

With his six-pack abs on display, the artist and athlete threw his arms up in the air in excitement over his milestone moment.

Along with the photo, he wrote: “I just qualified for my first Olympic trials. I’d love to share this personal milestone and let you in on my current journey as an athlete that I’ve kept relatively low key until now.

“Growing up competing, and then inevitably having to cut my career short as 13 year old Australian champion when I was given an opportunity in music that I couldn’t refuse.

“I have had the chance to experience and learn so much as a musician from touring around the world, releasing albums, performing as a leading man on Broadway, publishing a work of poetry, traveling with and speaking at the United Nations on environmental and oceanic matters and much more.”

Cody continued: “For this I will be forever grateful. Now almost exactly 10 years later, here I am once more. For years I had been fuelled by the silent fire in my stomach of returning to the sport of swimming, with the idea that 2020 would be the year I’d try training again.”

He went on to thank his coach, former pro swimmer Brett Hawke, for helping him on this journey and added that it’s only been five months since he hopped back into the water to start practicing.

“I was able to take out a win and secure a spot at next years Australian Olympic trials in the 100 fly,” the Prince Neptune poet said.

Continuing, he wrote: “It is my greatest ambition to expand the limit and perceived notion of what’s possible for a man to achieve in a single lifetime, and I’m here to tell you can do absolutely ANYTHING if you are willing to work for it.

“I’m looking forward to seeing where this all takes me on the long road ahead! ??”

Along with artsy musician shots of Cody with his guitar, reading his poetry book and posing with cars and motorcycles, the 23-year-old’s Instagram is full of photos and videos from his swimming practices and strengthening sessions.

Cody’s Olympic trials qualification comes just months after his split from Miley.

The two singers began dating in late 2019 after she divorced Liam Hemsworth and enjoyed a very public fling with Katelynn Carter.

The two had been friends for years before they went public in November 2019.

He looked after the Midnight Sky singer when she had vocal cord surgery, and in March they had matching tattoos.

They had been self-isolating together in Los Angeles, and in early April delivered 120 tacos to their local hospital workers to thank them during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

After the break-up, Miley said fans still might see them hanging out together because they’ve been friends for a decade and that wasn’t about to change.
