GUT health is key to our overall wellbeing and, accordingly, probiotics are becoming very popular.
I look at three products with added ingredients designed to target specific concerns, while our Beauty Editor puts toning face mists to the test.

Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner is all natural, absorbs well and leaves no shine
- Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner, £7.95, 125ml, boots.com – buy now
A natural, multi-use spray blending chamomile and rosewater to soothe, purify and refresh tired skin.
Can be used before or after cleansing and over make-up.
Has only six ingredients and for a natural product it toned my skin better than expected.
It doesn’t have the best smell – think chamomile tea – but I prefer products naturally scented rather than fragranced with chemicals. It absorbed well, leaving no shine, and is good value.
Nuxe’s Very Rose Toning Mist leaves a beautiful fragrance and can also be used to remove make-up
- Nuxe, Very Rose Toning Mist, £15.50, 200ml, escentual.com – buy now
A toning and moisturising face mist formulated with allantoin to soothe and soften the skin. Use morning and night around your existing skincare routine.
It tended to sit on my skin so I dabbed off excess product in the mornings but with more time in the evenings it sank in.
Can also be used to aid make-up removal, which is a bonus.
Suitable for the most sensitive skin types and the rosewater leaves a beautiful fragrance.
Pestle & Mortar Balance Fine Misting Spritz balances skin very well and is suitable for all skin types
- Pestle & Mortar Balance Fine Misting Spritz, £28, 80ml, pestleandmortar.com – buy now
Face mist enriched with amino acids and plant extracts to calm, hydrate and tone the skin.
Magnesium helps balance the skin’s PH, retains moisture and prevents excess oil production.
The gentian root extract is an antioxidant and antiseptic.
It balanced my oily skin really well without adding excess shine and primed it well for moisturiser and make-up. Suitable for all skin types and can be used any time.
