FAMILY weddings are rarely ever short of drama.
Whether it’s a mother-in-law who has become too involved, sisters fighting over some missing clothing item, or family members getting tired of all the photos, there is always a little bit of tension.

One woman said she has been fighting with her own brother and soon-to-be-sister-in-law about their wedding plans.
Posting to Reddit, the woman explained that she lives across the country from her family and isn’t particularly close to her brother’s fiancé. Additionally, because she’s in medical school, she knew she wouldn’t be able to help much with the wedding planning.
Still, the fiancé asked her to be a bridesmaid.
“There’s a group chat that was created months ago that I would read through every couple of days to get updates on things I needed to do—namely to order a bridesmaid dress.
“Links were sent with three styles to choose from, and we would be updated on colors later.”
After a few weeks went by, the woman asked the bride-to-be what color she should order.
The bride told her she was still thinking about it.
After a couple more weeks, she asked again, and the bride still didn’t have an answer.
“Now it’s at the point that if I don’t order this dress in a couple of days, it won’t be here in time.
“So, I ask on Saturday what color. No response in the group chat to me.”
She asked again the following day and received a slew of angry texts.
“I’m flooded with messages lambasting me for not ordering a dress yet, from her sisters and my sister and her.
“My sister called me, told me to ‘get my sh** together’ and ‘order a dress already’ because my lack of preparedness is causing the bride intense anxiety because she doesn’t think my dress will be here on time for the wedding now.
“She texted me this morning, ‘Don’t forget order your dress, love you,’ with smiling and kissing emojis.”
Still, however, she did not know what color to order.
The woman ran through every group chat message, looking for a mention of dress colors, but she did not find any clues.
Because the rest of the bridal party lives in the same city, she believed they all met in person and decided on a color.
“I can’t tell if I’m being purposefully excluded.”
Then, her own brother got involved.
“He called me pleading with me to work things out with the bride because she’s panicking about me.
“I tried to explain this to him, and he told me he doesn’t care, it’s a petty ladies’ issue, and since I’m not there for anything else this is the least I can do because the bride thinks I don’t like her because I wouldn’t come to anything.”
The woman, stressed about medical exams and the wedding, was fed up.
She debated skipping the wedding and just sticking to her schoolwork but called her mother instead.
That’s when her mother told her the color was a “lavender.”
Upon looking at the website, she didn’t see any colors that would accurately match the lavender description.
“I texted the maid of honor (bride’s sister) to ask what dress color and got a multi-paragraph long lecture about not having ordered my dress yet.”
After pressing the maid of honor for the official color, she received a blurry photo of her order confirmation with the color being “mulberry” – a much darker purple than lavender.
“I told her this and she said to order the lighter dusty purple color.
“I sent her a screenshot with the list of shade names and asked, ‘Which of these?’
“She said she didn’t know because everyone ordered their dress so long ago and asked for pictures of the dresses in different shades from the website.”
The woman sent her the requested photos but got no response.
“So, I called her on the phone, which she was upset about because it was past 10 pm over there.
“Her response was ‘Look, I don’t care what your problem is with me and my sister but if you want to stay in good standing with this family you need to get your ducks lined up girly.’”
The woman ignored her rude comments and simply asked again what color shade she should order.
“She replied, ‘I don’t remember. I’ll have to ask one of the other bridesmaids for her receipt, I’ll get back to you.’
“I want to bash my head into a wall!”
