In a video shared with her 3.7 million TikTok followers, a woman who goes by @nottheworstcleaner on social media revealed her process for making a yellowing shirt become white again.
“If you have white shirts that seem a little gray or were previously bleached, and now yellow, you need to try Liquid Bluing,” she said.
“All you need to do is dilute a few drops in some cold water and add it to your washer’s final rinse cycle if it’s a larger load.”
The cleaning expert mentioned that if you’re working on a smaller load, you can use a bucket.
“You can just do it in a bucket for about 10 minutes, soak it, and then rinse,” she explained.
Liquid Bluing can be purchased for just $4.95 at Ace Hardware.
According to the cleaning whizz, Liquid Bluing is non-toxic, and not a harsh chemical like bleach, so it won’t deteriorate fabrics or cause any yellowing.
Showing the process on a white T-Shirt, the woman was left with a sparkling white garment.
“I’m always shocking people with it! So many have never heard of it before,” she wrote in the comments section of her video, referring to the Bluing Liquid.
Some people in the comments section were grateful for the tips, while others talked about their experience with the magic working product.
“I used it for years when bartending to keep my tux shirts white,” one person shared.
“It’s like toner for your clothes,” added another.
“My mom used to use this on cloth diapers. Works amazing!” said a third.
“I didn’t even know this was a thing!! Def going to try it!! Thanks!” one person enthused.
“Yes, my grandma used this on her whites and also to rinse her white hair!!!!” a final person commented.
