Vanesa Amaro has been cleaning homes for seven years and believes herself to be an expert on home cleaning hacks.
The self-proclaimed “Queen of Cleaning” has over 5.4 million followers on her TikTok account, which is dedicated to home hacks, home cleaning stories, and cleaning product reviews.
With other 200,000 likes and counting, Amaro captions the video as a disclaimer: “This is just my opinion… don’t want to get sued but I have been cleaning houses for 7 years. So I know what I’m talking about.”
“Hi, I’m Vanesa, and I’m a cleaning expert,” she says at the start of the video.” I’m going to tell you five products that I hate, hate, hate and you should not buy.”
The first product on the list is Lime-A-Way.
“This is supposed to remove rust, but it doesn’t remove anything in my opinion. Do not buy,” Amaro states.
The second product on the list is none other than an old-fashioned glass cleaning staple in many homes, Windex.
“Also, who is buying Windex, okay? If you are buying Windex, we cannot be friends. Buy Spray Away [glass cleaner],” she adds as another option.
The home cleaning expert then moves on to the third product she doesn’t think you should spend your money on: Palmolive Spray Away Dish Soap.
“If I see you buying this, it’s on sight,” Amaro says when advising not to purchase the product.
As an alternative, she suggests purchasing Dawn Powerwash instead.
“No, this is not sponsored,” she quickly adds.

In Amaro’s opinion, she says anything advertised for cleaning a glass cooktop is an “immediate no” in her eyes.
As an example of a fourth product to avoid buying, she holds up a bottle of Scotch-Brite Scratch-Free Rejuvenating Glass Cooktop Polish and Scotch-Brite Scratch-Free Glass Cooktop Replacement Heads to further emphasize her point.
The fifth product Amaro referenced to avoid buying was the Weiman Disinfectant Stovetop Cleaner.

In the video commentary, she reinforces how important it is to save your money on cleaning products related to stovetop cleaning because they don’t really do much.
In case you feel it’s a necessity in your home, Amaro offers a substitute cleaner, as she closes out the final seconds of the TikTok video.
“If you want to waste your money, buy this product right here,” Amaro says in the video as she holds a container of Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes, $4.49, Target.

“Nobody actually buys Windex. It just appears in your house at some point,” one viewer commented.
“Could NOT AGREE MORE about the glass cooktop cleaners!!!” another added.
