PTSD tends to occur more in people who have been repeatedly exposed to trauma. Also, anyone who has served in the military is at risk of developing PTSD at some point in their lives, even if they don’t remember being affected.

Breathing and Relaxation Techniques

Mental wellness is an important self-care component, particularly for those with PTSD. Breath-based practices such as deep breathing, alternate nostril breathing, and the 4-7-8 counting technique are great ways to practice managing your PTSD symptoms.

Deep breathing involves inhaling through your nose deeply and then slowly exhaling through your mouth. Alternate nostril breathing is a practice where you alternate the nostrils through which you breathe. This helps to achieve a state of balance and harmony.

The 4-7-8 counting technique is a self-regulation way in which you count and steadily exhale for the amount of time you want to relax. All these breathing and relaxation techniques are great tools to practice mental wellness and help manage your PTSD. They can be done easily and quickly and provide tremendous benefits in the long run.

Exploring Treatment Options for PTSD

Mental wellness is an important part of managing trauma such as PTSD. It is especially important for those who have experienced a traumatic event to take care of their own mental health.

One tool that can be used to manage PTSD is exploring treatment options. Treatment can be as simple as talking with a mental health professional to uncover root causes and develop coping mechanisms.

Other choices include cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and ketamine treatment for PTSD. There are also alternative treatments like yoga and meditation.

It’s important to find a treatment that works for the individual, as one size does not fit all. Taking steps to manage PTSD can make a world of difference in mental wellness.
