As of June 18, 2019, one in three people worldwide does not have access to clean drinking water. The need for clean water solutions to the clean water crisis around the globe is essential. Everyone should have access to clean water, no matter where they live.
Lack of access to clean water happens for a variety of reasons. This can happen due to aging infrastructure or an inability to work on sanitation efforts. Despite everyone’s best efforts, there is more to be done.
Here are some possible solutions to the clean water crisis.
Start Recycling Wastewater
When you begin recycling wastewater, a few things happen. First, you cut down on the need to import clean water to the region, which is costly and can also be environmentally wasteful.
Singapore is already experimenting with recycling wastewater as a clean water solution. To make countries more self-sufficient, this is an option. It does require a sanitation and purification process to remove harmful chemicals and waste from the water.
Harvest Air Water, Fog, and Rainwater
You can harvest air-water or fog to help bring more clean water to different countries and regions. Atmospheric water is generally freshwater. Harvesting can bring clean water to regions without it.
Harvesting fog is not a new technique either. Used by the ancient Inca civilization, it was a way to ensure clean water back then too. Catching rainwater is another important technique to help retrieve clean water.

Advocate for Better Policies
Better policies and laws are necessary to ensure clean water worldwide as well. This is not exclusive to developing countries.
For example, in the United States, it is known that many Native American tribes and communities lack the same access to clean water. Many Black Americans also historically lack the same access to clean water that other Americans do.
It is these needs that make it apparent that even developed countries need to continue having government leaders and citizens advocate for better policies on clean water. This also goes for advocating for policies and legislation that limit corporate water footprints.
Water Filtration Straws
If you can’t make the water clean, water filtration straws work as good temporary solutions. Using a water filtration straw means it filtrates out dirt and chemicals as you use it.
This equipment would be a good way to allow people to drink water safely as the world continues to develop new clean water solutions.
Innovate New Clean Water Solutions
The world needs to keep looking for new innovative ways to solve the clean water crisis around the globe. The clean water crisis isn’t going away, so it must be a part of major conversations in governments and communities around the world. If the world wants clean water solutions, everyone must work for them.
