The Ceres Police Department responded to reports of a nude male running in the vicinity of Hatch Road and Richland Avenue on March 26. The officers found the teen bound at the wrists inside the Cost Less grocery store. Emergency medical aid was dispatched, and the boy was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Further investigation revealed troubling conditions at the boy’s home, where his younger autistic sister also resided. The house was described as having feces and urine throughout, strong odors, and other health hazards. The boy’s mother, Leandra Renteria, along with the teen’s grandmother and her husband, were arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect.

Leandra Renteria, the mother, faced legal consequences along with the teen’s grandmother, Lenore Wilson, and her husband Gary Wilson. The Wilsons were later released from custody, and the two children have been placed under the care of Child Protective Services.
