With 39 percent of women wearing high heels every day, it’s clear that many people wear high heel shoes — which can mean constant pain!
Some people are fortunate and don’t seem to experience much discomfort. Others really struggle with the pain of walking around in shoes, but don’t want to give up the awesome aesthetic of their favorite shoes. Understandable, of course!
Luckily, all is not lost. You don’t have to suffer or give up the shoes.
There are ways of making your favorite shoes more comfortable without having to go on the hunt for a much less painful pair of high heels!
Buy Gel Pads for Your Shoes
It’s possible to buy gel pads for shoes. You can place these under the balls of your feet, and they’ll stick to the inside of the shoes and provide a cushion while you’re walking.
Giving your feet a much softer landing is a great way of ensuring you can walk around all night without your poor feet pressing against a hard surface. If you find the pain is in your heel or at the sides of your feet, you can get gel pads for these places too.
They’re most easily concealed in high heeled boots, but they can work for any shoes.
Tape Your Toes Together
It’s a long-known trick for ballerinas — taping your toes together.
It might sound weird, but taping your third and fourth toe together will take the pressure off the balls of your feet when you walk. It not only sounds weird but is bound to feel just as strange when you start!
Just wait, though. After walking around for an hour or two, you’ll realize you’re not in as much pain as usual, because the pressure has been distributed to other places in your feet.
Next time you’re spending a long time in heels, take some tape out with you and whip it out when necessary.
Be Careful Where You Walk
If possible, be aware of where you’re walking. Walking up and down cobbled streets or uneven cracks on the pavement, or even up and down stairs, can place more pressure on your feet and create even more pain.
If you walk on flat surfaces instead, you’ll be able to last much longer.
Take Breaks
It might be the most obvious tip when wearing killer shoes, but they’re going to feel like much more comfortable high heels if you take breaks.
Whenever you get a chance to sit down, take it! Rest your feet for a few minutes to take the weight off them and pace yourself — you’ll last much longer in those shoes.
Follow These Tips, and Lessen Your High Heel Pain!
Lasting all day or night in a pair of your favorite shoes can seem daunting due to the inevitable high heel pain, but it’s totally possible! Take breaks, wear inserts if possible, and watch your step. You’ll be surprised at just how long you can go!
