The 33-year-old star – who was a UFC champion and appeared in the likes of The Expendables 3 and Furious 7 before moving into the squared circle – really missed her home comforts when she spend a year on the road with the pro wrestling giant.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she said: ‘My bottom vertebrae in my back is actually broken in half. So that has something to do with it.
‘But travelling on a broken back is the absolute worst. I love being home on my extra firm Tempur-Pedic mattress every night.’
For many wrestlers, the hectic schedule is the most difficult part of the job, and she remembers her pal Sarah Logan – whose real name is Sarah Rowe – warning her about the intense routine they have to deal with.
‘I love wrestling but I think it was maybe Sarah Rowe who told me this, she wrestles for free but they pay her to travel,’ she added. ‘The hardest part I think was just not being able to lay down horizontally, you know.
‘Taking a bunch of hard bumps, your back hurts and you just want to lay down. All I wanted to do between shows is lay down with my legs up and travelling you’re just sitting upright all the time and my back would kill me.
‘So the actual act of travelling I do not miss it all, it was the absolute worse.’
Ronda enjoyed a successful stint with WWE, receiving high praise from fans and her peers while also capturing the Raw Women’s Title in August 2017.
She held the belt – defending against the likes of Nikki Bella, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax along the way – before Becky Lynch beat Rousey and Charlotte Flair in the main event of WrestleMania 33.
As it stands, it’s unclear whether Ronda wants to return to WWE, having not appeared on screen since that loss in 2019.
Although she made some foul-mouthed remarks about the fans earlier this year, she recently teased the prospect of a return in a tweet directed at Natalya.
Responding to WWE’s tweet about their Women’s Title match on Raw in 2018, she wrote: ‘One of my fav matches – such a huge challenge in so many ways, what a crazy day… looking forward to a rematch someday (sic).’
