A brand new logo for the BBC’s Gladiators reboot has officially been revealed, and we are so ready.
The original series of Gladiators hit our television screens in 1992 and was broadcast on ITV, lasting for eight seasons until 2000.
The programme, which was hosted by the likes of Ulrika Jonsson, saw athletic TV fans battle as Contenders against the show’s mighty Gladiators, in events that test their speed, skill, stamina and strength.
And now, more than two decades after being on our screens, they’re back, as a brand new generation of superhuman Gladiators will compete against a brave set of contenders in the ultimate test of speed and strength.
They will take part in a series of brand new games alongside classic challenges including fan-favourite The Eliminator.
As if that wasn’t enough, you can even apply for free tickets to watch the battles unfold.
Filming for the 11-part series will take place in and around the spring school holidays at the Utilita Arena, Sheffield and audiences can be the first to experience the power in this spectacular family day out.
Dan Baldwin, Managing Director Hungry Bear said: ‘Watching Gladiators LIVE in the arena is the perfect day out for all the family.
‘Being close-up to the action is going to be an incredible experience like no other.
‘Plus, we’re making the tickets free, so it won’t cost you a penny to get in!’
The ITV series became quite the live TV event and attracted over 14 million viewers at its peak between 1992 and 2000.
In 2008, Gladiators was later revived on Sky One for two series, including three special episodes that pitted the new Gladiators against the original Gladiator Legends.
The show has enjoyed various spin-offs, in countries such as Australia, the USA, Finland and South Africa.
Gladiators returns to BBC soon.
