The cause of death of Dragons’ Den star Drew Cockton has been shared.
Businessman Cockton was found at his home in October 2022, one year after securing a £50,000 investment from Touker Suleyman.
His death also came the day after he held the LGBTQ+ Business Awards at a hotel in Liverpool.
Cockton, who was 36, appeared on the BBC show in 2021, pitching his vegan fragrance brand named Owen Drew, which he set up in 2017.
As well as the backing of a Dragon, he went on to receive a wealth of success thanks to the show’s platform, with the likes of American socialite Paris Hilton becoming one of his celebrity fans.
Now, sadly, coroner Andre Rebello has ruled that Cockton died from a ‘mixed drug overdose.’

A post mortem found he died from an overdose of prescription painkillers and antipsychotic drugs.
Speaking during an inquest, Rebello said: ‘The amount of medication that would have been taken precludes this being an inadvertent overdose.’
He added: ‘Drew was very much loved and continued to be loved. You cannot have grief without love.
‘The inquest is very much a celebration of his life and the love that still persists.’
A handwritten note was also found at the scene, understood to have been written by Cockton at an earlier date, due to the high levels of alcohol in his system.

Rebello added, Liverpool Echo reports: ‘The deficiencies with such notes are they are never time and date stamped, and no one would have any idea as to when such a note was written. However, part of the note, the first page, appears to be thought through.
‘Certainly, the note appears to be that from a very loving, caring person who is trying to explain what is going on, and at some stage it would appear there was some intent of fatal harm. Whether it was written that night or previously, I don’t know.’
Following Cockton’s death – news his mum confirmed with a Facebook statement at the time – reality star and friend Hilton shared a sweet tribute.
