Catherine, 39, previously hit the headlines after she was accused of trying to blag free birthday cakes for her party – something she insists she knew nothing about.
After the controversy the star ended up cancelling her planned birthday bash.
Now she took to social media as she revealed her drastically scaled back celebration.
The former soap personality looked stunning in a plunging floral print long sleeved summer dress.
Catherine stuck a slim figure as she posed against a palm tree whilst she soaked up the sun on a Spanish getaway in Marbella.
She captioned the photo: “40! When your hubby whisks you away 🥰. Feeling blessed and grateful.
“My wonderful family- my selfless , wonder-human of a husband and my beautiful children. So many incredible people in my life. Friends old and new – you know who you are.”
“Grateful for each year, each opportunity, each lesson, each role, each milestone… grateful for every single day.
“LIVE your best life , make memories- they’re the most important thing you have. Be present.”
She added: “Side note: God bless t** tape.”
The star was landed in hot water after Rebecca Severs, owner of The Three Little Birds bakery owner shared an exchange between her and events firm NVRLND.
The emails asked for a 40th birthday cake, 100 cupcakes and an extra smaller birthday cake for her husband in return for exposure.
After the controversy was first reported, the former soap star took to social media as she shared her side of the story.
Catherine slammed the baker for using her name for “exposure,” but fans were quick to hit out at the actress as they blasted her reply as “tone deaf”.
