Warning: spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian season 2 episode 3.
The Mandalorian fans could barely contain their excitement after Ahsoka Tano’s name was mentioned at the end of the most recent episode in the Star Wars series.
During Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian, which was released on Disney Plus on Friday 13 November, Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) tells Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) the name of a Jedi he needs to seek in order to help return The Child to his own kind.
Bo-Katan, who previously appeared in the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, tells the Mandalorian: ‘Take the foundling to the city of Calodan on the forest planet of Corvus. There you will find Ahsoka Tano.’
For some Mandalorian viewers, the mention of Ahsoka Tano may have simply indicated that a new character is soon going to be entering the fray.
To others, the name-drop marked a pivotal moment – a clear-cut sign that a fan-favourite character is likely going to be making an appearance in the series extremely soon.
Who is Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano, who appeared alongside Bo-Katan in the aforementioned Star Wars animated television series, was once a Jedi Padawan, trained under the tutelage of Anakin Skywalker, who would go on to become Darth Vader.
She is a Togruta, a humanoid species from the planet Shili.
She fought alongside Anakin during the Clone Wars, which, in the Star Wars timeline, took place after the 2002 prequel film Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
However, her path diverged from his, with the 2005 film Revenge of the Sith showing Anakin becoming the villainous Darth Vader.
Ahsoka made a brief cameo in the most recent Star Wars film, The Rise of Skywalker, when the voice of the character could be heard during Rey’s battle against Palpatine.
How do The Mandalorian fans feel about Ahsoka Tano’s potential appearance?
Many Star Wars fans were excitedly taken aback by the fact they may soon see a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano portrayed on screen.
‘WE’RE FINALLY SEEING OUR BEST GIRL AHSOKA TANO NEXT WEEK AAAHHH,’ one person exclaimed on Twitter.
Someone else described the mention of Ahsoka’s name as ‘the biggest name drop ever’.
‘The best episode of #TheMandalorian ever,’ they said.
‘We got Bo Katan and the biggest name drop ever Miss Ahsoka Tano. Internally Screaming.’
Another added: ‘I think for me this is the best episode of #TheMandalorian yet.
‘The mission, Baby Yoda being cute again, Bo-Katan mentions Ahsoka Tano, Sasha Banks as a Mandalorian #ThisIsTheWay.’

‘It’s literally been this internet situation, so internet, if it happens, it’s because of you.’
Guess we have the internet to thank then!
