The moment Bill and Oti came right up close to the camera (Picture: BBC)
Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse experienced an unfortunate mishap while performing one of their dances during last night’s Strictly Come Dancing semi-final, when a camera came just a bit too close to the couple.
For their second routine of the night, comedian Bill and professional dancer Oti brought the drama with an intense tango, dancing to Enter Sandman by Metallica.
After strutting in hold across an image of an electric guitar on the dancefloor, the pair then carried out a series of dizzying spins.
While the choreography appeared to be going smoothly, at one point, a camera came right up close to Bill, causing him to lightly collide with it.
The moment didn’t go unnoticed by fans, with some stating Bill’s collision with the camera was ‘very metal’.
‘Bill’s going all in with his heavy metal tango and battering the cameras along the way,’ one person joked.
‘Is it me or did the camera man get in the way of Bill’s tango?’ another said.
Someone else wrote incredulously: ‘Did Bill & Oti hit the camera during that performance?!’
Another fan stated: ‘Bill punching the camera was very metal,’ while another complained about the ‘damn camera’ getting in the way of Bill and Oti’s routine.
Although someone else may have found the close proximity of the camera distracting, it fortunately didn’t get in the way of Bill and Oti’s performance, with the pair scoring a respectable 23 out of 30 for the dance.
Their previous semi-final routine, a Charleston to (Won’t You Come Home) Bill Bailey by Ottilie Patterson with Chris Barber, fared slightly better, receiving a score of 25 from the judges.
At the end of last night’s Strictly, EastEnders star Maisie Smith and her partner Gorka Marquez were at the top of the leaderboard with a combined score of 59 for their two dances, after the actor achieved her first perfect score of the series.
With the competition so tight ahead of next week’s final, it’s almost impossible to say who may be going home.
The Strictly Come Dancing semi-final results show airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
