WHILE Selling Sunset has continued its reign of popularity as one of Netflix’s most-watched TV shows, the momentum keeps building for the show’s stunning cast.
However, as Jason Oppenheim reveals, the reality hit almost didn’t happen at all.

The real estate broker behind Selling Sunset’s centerpiece The Oppenheim Group was one half of the decision to give the show a green light.
Although it might be obvious today why audiences can’t get enough, Jason exclusively tells The Sun he and his brother Brett were hesitant at first.
He recalled: “The show started out with me not wanting to do a show.
“I had been approached by a couple of agents and producers over a long year – and my brother and I decided we weren’t interested.
“We had a very successful up-and-coming company and we were doing very well in real estate – we thought ‘why take any risks?'”
His feelings changed when current Selling Sunset current producers Skylar Wakil and Adam DiVello – the mastermind behind megahits like The Hills and Laguna Beach – encouraged a meeting.
“It slowly just worked its way from there,” Jason explained.
During filming for the first season, Jason reveals there were a lot of nerves.
He and his team of real estate agents didn’t know what to expect as his reputation – as well as the business he had worked so hard to build – was on the line.
The Netflix star said: “I think after season one came out, we saw it was good, I think we relaxed a little bit and I think we’ve just become more relaxed each season.”
Today the show offers a glimpse into the lives of those employees – who he is instinctively protective of – and their lives while selling some of Hollywood’s hottest spots.
Millions of fans have been pulled in by the allure of fashion, drama, and to-die-for real estate – but the subtle relatability and serving of escapism has struck a chord around the world.
Jason says no one, including him or the other castmates, could have predicted the show would be received as positively as it has.
He said: “I don’t think anyone could genuinely say that we had any ideas it would be this successful.
“I don’t think anyone involved in the show could have imagined.”
Mary recently opened up about dealing with negative comments online in an exclusive interview with The US Sun.
