Phillip Schofield hits back at accusations This Morning snubbed silence

Phillip Schofield has hit back after This Morning viewers accused the show of snubbing the two-minutes silence for Remembrance Day.
Just before 11am, Holly Willoughby and Phillip invited viewers to be silent for two minutes, before they cut to various Remembrance Day parades across the country.
However, there appeared to be a mix-up with the timings between the ITV studio and the silence in Belfast.
The camera showed the chimes at Big Ben as they began the two-minute silence, but just one minute in, someone from Belfast started speaking to thank the public for joining him.
After the two minutes were up, Phillip acknowledged the blunder as he said: ‘I think someone’s watch was wrong half-way through there, but these things happen.’
It is unclear what happened regarding the timings, but either way, some viewers weren’t happy about it.

Taking to Twitter to air their thoughts, one unhappy viewer tweeted: ‘Wow terrible attempt at the 2 mins silence.’
Another commented: ‘You spoke over half the 2-minute silence! I had to turn over to BBC as I thought my phone must be wrong. Not good!’

While one added: ‘This Morning c***ked up 2-minute silence. Not only did they have talking during the silence but then cut off the end of the silence to have a chat.’
‘Well you b******d up the 2 minutes silence big style,’ one said.
However, some viewers stepped into defend the show, with many saying it ‘wasn’t their fault’.
One tweeted: ‘It wasn’t the fault of This Morning that the man from Belfast spoke during the 2 minutes silence. The Belfast clock must be slightly out!’
Another said: ‘Watched and did the two-minute silence. The silence then got interrupted by the guy from Belfast due to their clock being 2 minute faster than it should be. Got confused until it switched back to Big Ben. Please double-check the time for next year.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
