Julian Sands’ final movie is getting a UK release.
The actor – best known for starring opposite Helena Bonham-Carter in A Room With A View – was sadly confirmed dead by police, aged 65, back in June after a five-month search.
Sands went missing in California’s San Gabriel Mountains while hiking in January, with human remains later found close to the area before being identified as his.
In late 2022, just a few months before he disappeared, Sands shot his final project, The Last Breath, a film written by Nick Saltrese and directed by Joachim Hedén.
He stars alongside Peaky Blinders’ Jack Parr, As I Am’s Kim Spearman, and Yesterday’s Alexander Arnold.
The film tells the story of a group of old friends from college who reunite and head on a scuba diving trip in the Caribbean to explore a WWII battleship wreckage.

In a chilling twist of events, they find themselves trapped underwater and surrounded by great white sharks.
The film has now been acquired by Signature Entertainment from Metro International.
Signature is lining up the shark attack thriller for an early 2024 launch, giving Sands’ fans the opportunity to see him on the big screen for one last time.
Speaking of the deal, Signature Entertainment’s acquisitions and development manager Katie Wilkinson said: ‘Signature absolutely loves a shark film (who doesn’t?), and we couldn’t be happier to work with Metro on The Last Breath.
‘It’s a thrilling wild ride from start to finish. We’re super excited for UK audiences to get their teeth stuck into this one in 2024.’
Metro International’s CEO Will Machin added: ‘Signature has proved themselves to be the home for shark thrillers in the UK so we couldn’t be more delighted to place The Last Breath in their very capable hands.’

Following Sands’ tragic death, his family issued a statement.
The devastated relatives said: ‘We are deeply grateful to the search teams and coordinators who have worked tirelessly to find Julian.
‘We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with bright memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and as an original and collaborative performer.’
It was later shared that Sands’ cause of death was ‘undetermined.’
A public information officer for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department told People what would appear on the British star’s death certificate.
The officer clarified that his cause of death was ruled ‘undetermined due to the condition of the body.’
