Matt Hancock found himself in deep water – not for the first time – as he dived into his second Bushtucker Trial in a row.
I’m A Celebrity viewers voted for the former health secretary to take the plunge in Tentacles Of Terror, in which he found himself submerged in an octopus-shaped structure among an assortment of underwater critters.
Collecting a full house of 11 stars, the 44-year-old said afterwards: ‘I was absolutely petrified. I can’t believe it. I was so nervous. My heart was racing. I’m really proud of myself.’
‘That man will have a very different account of what he did to what we all think happened, and there will be reasons,’ funnyman Seann, 36, began.

‘I’m not justifying anything that guy did… but f*** being in his job when that was going on.’
Corrie star Sue, 59, agreed with Seann, but went on: ‘To come into I’m A Celebrity does not sit well with me. He’s got constituents back home, he’s a serving member of parliament.’

At the start of last night’s episode, A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas, 35, grilled the disgraced politician on being caught breaking social-distancing guidelines.
‘A lot of things that happened with you does make it difficult, because people are angry and upset, emotions are running high,’ she said.
‘We’re not going to exclude anyone, we want to make sure that everyone’s a family, but if it does feel tough for the first few days, I’m sure you understand why.’

Scarlette described rule-breaking by those who had set the Covid rules as ‘a big slap in the face for everyone’, to which Matt responded: ‘I know how people felt. That’s why I resigned, right? Good on you for saying that, thank you.’
Comedian Babatunde Aleshe pulled him up on the leaked footage of him kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo, saying: ‘You messed up.’ Matt conceded: ‘I messed up and I fessed up. I resigned, and it’s no excuse, but I fell in love, right?’ But Babatunde, 36, countered: ‘You didn’t just “fell in love”, you were grabbing booty bruv.’
