The studios released a teaser of their upcoming slate of Phase Four, along with release dates, which also includes Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow standalone as well as Shang-Chi, today and, sorry to borrow a cliche, but it does not disappoint.
While what we’re absolutely gasping for air over, though, is the long-awaited teaser of the upcoming Eternals flick which boasts a truly star-studded cast only the Avengers can challenge.
The flick – directed by recent Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao – revolves around a group of ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years.
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, released last year, an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.
The short teaser gives us a little idea of what’s to come with Kumail Nanjiani and Salma Hayek also making brief appearances – as well as Ange’s platinum hair, which is doing things to us.

Ange is rocking Thena (Picture: Marvel)
Her character Thena is seen wielding a glowing sword in the footage, as a voiceover declares: ‘When you love something, you fight for it.’
Ange is also seen standing alongside fellow superheroes, Richard’s Ikaris, Kumail’ Kingo, Gemma as Sersi, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Lia McHugh as Sprite – while we see a very short snippet of Salma’s Ajak on a horse.
The film also stars Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, however while we’ve seen photos of the Game Of Thrones star on the Marvel set, he’s missing from the teaser…which is only all the more teasing.
Plot details for Eternals were revealed last year, with Angelina said to be playing a ‘fierce warrior’ and Salma a ‘wise and spiritual leader’. Kit’s Game Of Thrones co-star Richard, meanwhile, will play the ‘all-powerful’ leader of the ‘ancient aliens’ who double up as an ’exciting team of Super Heroes.’

Speaking on the film, which filmed in London last year, Zhao also said she’s making the upcoming epic from the point of view of a fan.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘How much further and bigger can we go after Avengers: Endgame? Because I’m not just making the film as a director. I’m making the film as a fan.’
The filmmaker is working with a much bigger budget than she’s used to on Eternals, with that sweet, sweet MCU money, but she insists she’s still being afforded the same creative freedoms by Marvel.
She said: ‘I shot exactly the way I wanted to shoot. On location. A lot of magic hour. Three-hundred-sixty degrees on the same camera as I did on Nomadland. Same rigs.’
The director added she feels fortunate that Marvel has placed so much faith in her and that the studio has been happy to allow her to work in her usual way, adding that it’s ‘a it surreal’ and she’s ‘waiting for the shoe to drop’.
Eternals is scheduled for release November 5, 2021.
