Sharon ‘raised eyebrows’ at the DFT when they found out she was going on Love Island
Sharon, 25, from Oxford, quit her role as an operations manager for Love Island, but caused a stir when she kept her former employers in the dark about her glamourous career change and that she would be joining the ITV2 reality show.
A source told The Mirror: “It was surprising to see the Love Island lineup… plenty of eyebrows were raised.
“But everyone thinks the DfT is potholes and bus stops, so it’s great to see a former colleague bringing a bit of glamour to the Department for Transport.”
Sharon, won won Miss International UK 2018, worked at the Department for Transport for around six months as a contracted employee.

Her job has involved delivering Brexit and battling coronavirus for the government – so the hectic pace of Love Island will probably come as a relaxing break.
She said: “It’s been a bit of a running joke between my friendship group for a while that I should apply, probably because I’m the most outrageous one out of the group.
“But also because of Covid and the lockdown, I’m the only single one in my friendship group.
“They’re either married or planning on getting married. I don’t want to be the only one in the group chat that is single anymore!”
Love Island is back on Monday with a glam line-up
Meanwhile it was revealed Sharon has a secret connection to former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague.
And it appears she’s following in the footsteps of Molly-Mae, 22, who shot to fame in the 2019 series and was a runner-up with Tommy Fury.
Sharon was asked in her introduction video if she knew any of the former Islanders.
Revealing how she used do beauty pageants, the 25-year-old added: “Molly-Mae and I had the same pageant director.”

Love Island starts on Monday
It’s not the first time the hit ITV2 show has starred beauty queens.
Government official Sharon was snapped by Love Island producers five years after Zara Holland lost her Miss GB title for having sex on the show.
She was dramatically stripped of her Miss Great Britain title when she had sex with co-star Alex Bowen.
