The NXT wrestler – who is part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament with his Grizzled Young Veterans partner James Drake – has backed his boyhood club to regain first place despite some solid results which have seen the Red Devils climb up the table.
He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘There’s only one prediction, isn’t there? Only one result – don’t listen to Killian Dain. Don’t listen to anything he tells you!
‘Liverpool are going up – this year’s ours to lose. United are so hit and miss still, they’re just riding their luck of one of these weird seasons where there’s been a couple of trip-ups.
‘I think Liverpool are still going to be able to pull this back. I don’t see United finishing any higher than third. City are coming back into form now.’
While Gibson – who was born in Liverpool and recently moved to Florida to work for NXT – knows United won’t be an easy match, he’s desperate to see them tumble back down the league.
‘United – I dunno, they’re not an easy competition but they’re not winning. They’re not having it back,’ he laughed. ‘My whole childhood, I had to endure United at the top of the league, so I refuse to believe that they’re going back.’
And the 30-year-old wrestler also offered some comparison between Anfield itself and the raucous response he and Drake gets from the WWE fans, which often sees crowds removing their footwear with chants of ‘shoes off if you hate Gibson’.
‘It spurs us on, to be honest. It’s that away game feeling,’ he said of the audience’s more creative moments.

‘When other teams come to Anfield to play, they know what they’re getting themselves into and that has one response on the players when they hear the Kop roaring.
‘That’s gonna spur the players on to keep pushing forwards and pushing forwards. But similarly, I’ve always thought it goes the other way.’
Drake agreed, noting that as much as the pair like to rile up the fans at every opportunity, they thrive on that energy.
He smiled: ‘I hate to admit it, but the audience definitely give you that perk.’
Gibson explained that having a crowd on your back is just as inspiring as having thousands of people cheering your name.
He said: ‘When someone’s telling you that you can’t do something and they’re shouting at you and trying to put you off, it makes you react in a very different way but equally as strong.’
