ITV reveals Coronation Street and Emmerdale Christmas specials

ITV has revealed a host of special episodes for Coronation Street and Emmerdale’s Christmas editions.
Corrie will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a bombshell week of episodes in December followed by an explosive Christmas.
Coronation Street’s Christmas is set to be explosive
And ITV bosses have planned a huge number of shows to treat soaps to this winter.
Stars from both ITV soaps will go head to head in The Big Quiz: Coronation Street vs Emmerdale.
Jack P Shepherd and Mark Charnock return as team captains for Coronation Street and Emmerdale respectively.
Joining Jack are cobbles co-stars Simon Gregson and Sair Khan, while Mark is accompanied by the farm’s finest Karen Blick and Jay Kontzle.
The Big Quiz will return for its third annual soap grudge match
With the scores tied at three victories each from previous years, the pressure is well and truly on for the two teams.
But which soap will claim the top spot and reign triumphant this year?
As part of Corrie’s 60th anniversary celebrations there will also be a special episode dedicated to the show’s formidable women.
Queens of The Street will take viewers on a trip down memory lane through a combination of classic clips and commentary from Coronation Street icons, as we applaud the strength, humour and warmth of the women who have been front and centre stage for the past 60 years.
On screen Coronation Street has lined up a huge week of episodes for its anniversary.
For months the nation has been gripped by the appalling abuse inflicted by Geoff Metcalfe upon his wife Yasmeen.
With Yasmeen on remand charged with Geoff’s attempted murder, the anniversary week will see the end of her trial. Will justice be
done, or is the nightmare only just beginning for Yasmeen and Alya?
Meanwhile, two people battle to keep a shameful secret that will ruin their lives and those around them. Nothing stays quiet for long in soaps, and as the week progresses the web of lies and deceit they’ve created threatens to destroy them.
At the centre of the anniversary drama is of course Coronation Street itself as the residents unite to save the cobbles from the dastardly dealings of Ray Crosby.
Having bought up most of the property and businesses in the area, Ray is ready to flatten the lot to make way for his new development.
As the bulldozers arrive on the cobbles the race is on to save Britain’s most famous street.
