GAME of Thrones fans will be delighted to hear that spin-off series House of the Dragon will start production next year.
Bosses of fantasy drama series announced the exciting news of a prequel back in January.
House of the Dragon will begin production in 2021
Earlier this year it was confirmed that author George R.R Martin and Ryan Condal had already started writing for the prequel, which is based on Martin’s novel Fire & Blood.
House of the Dragon will focus the adventures of the Targaryen family and will be set 300 years before Game of Thrones.
And last night, the Game of Thrones’ official Twitter page finally revealed when they plan to get the ball rolling with production.
Alongside some first look snaps of two deadly dragons, they captioned the post: “Dragons are coming. #HouseoftheDragon begins production in 2021.”
Fans couldn’t contain their excitment.
One replied to the tweet: “I’M READY.”
Another said: “Long live Daenerys Targaryen.”
A fourth chimed in: “I’m ready for House Targaryen.”
To further add to the excitement, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar also revealed that they plan to start production “in a few months” in a company announcement yesterday.
He simply said: “Look out for dragons overhead.”
The sequel, which will consist of 10 episodes, is set to hit our screens in 2022, as confirmed by HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys in September.
Back in July, a source confirmed to EW that casting for the prequel, which was created by Miguel Sapochnik, has already began.

Sapochnik will work alongside George R.R. Martin, Vince Gerardis, Ryan Condal as executive producers.
The awesome foursome have kept very quiet about who is going to star in the prequel.
However, it was revealed in October that Peaky Blinders star Paddy Considine will be in the show.
HBO confirmed the news on their Instagram page with snap of the actor and captioned the post: “Paddy Considine has been cast as King Viserys Targaryen in HBO’s House of the Dragon!”
