True crime documentaries are a major hit on Netflix, so it’s no surprise that subscribers lapped up the latest offering as soon as it was released this week.
However, many were shocked by how graphic some of the content was, such as gruesome crime scene photos and detailed reenactments in a blood covered room.
It became too much for some viewers, with one writing on Twitter: “Christ the new EAR/ONS doc on Netflix is hard going and I don’t scare easily… I really wouldn’t watch unless you have a very thick skin for true crime.
“It’s so graphic I had to turn it off after two episodes.”

Another added: “Watching the new Netflix Night Stalker series. No need for them to include the victim crime scene photos, and slo-mo blood splatter shots, it’s not necessary.”
A third tweeted: “Not sure if I can get through all of #NightStalker on Netflix. This is tough viewing.”
Meanwhile a fourth wrote: “‘Netflix the night stalker is utterly terrifying. I haven’t made it 15 minutes and I’m awfully disturbed.”
In an essay for Medium, its writer Eric Langberg said the documentary “‘gleefully displays horrific crime scene images on screen.”
Viewers said it was too gory to watch
He added: “More than any other Netflix docu-series I can think of, this one loves to titillate with specifics of the crimes.”
Ramirez would climb through open windows in Los Angeles and ransack his victims’ homes before raping and killing them, marking the crime scenes with pentagrams.
He was eventually arrested and convicted of 13 murders, five attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults, and 14 burglaries at the age of 29 in 1989.
Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer is available on Netflix now.
