Tom, who announced that he was leaving the Channel 4 show after nearly seven years, said that the pair have been flooded with vile abuse because of their interracial relationship.
The TV star said: “At the start of the lockdown last year, obviously the George Floyd situation happened and we were both very vocal about Black Lives Matter.
“For people who were obviously opposed to that, their easiest way to hit back at what we stood for and target the fact that she’s obviously mixed race and has heritage on both sides.
“It’s a lot, even now we still get it. It’s not just her as well, we get it a lot as a couple.

“People saying things about us being an interracial couple. It can be a bit much, it can definitely be too much.”
Tom explained the extent of the harassment saying it can be “persistent” and has become difficult to ignore.
He said: “It was more of a shock how strong it was and how persistent people were.
“People would make one fake account and you’d block it and then another one pops up, it’s clearly the same person with fake pictures and stuff.

“They’d do it three or four times in a row, they keep doing it. It’s crazy that people have the time to do it.
“When it’s once in a blue moon you can kind of ignore it and it doesn’t really bother you but when it’s overwhelming and multiple comments every single day on every single post.”
“If you go on my TikTok, I still reply to comments that are racist. They will comment on an old post about Black Lives Matter. I literally just got one about five minutes ago.”
The TV favourite explained he wants to use his platform to speak out against racism in the UK.

Tom continued: “At first I just block them all and then it got to a point where I was like no, people need to speak about this.
“I am lucky enough that I have a platform so I am going to speak about this and make people aware of the fact that it still goes on – it’s still this bad because a lot of people like to believe that there is not much racism in the UK anymore.
“But there is, there is a lot and it might get brushed under the carpet and it might not be as bad as it has been in the past.
“But the people who haven’t experienced it in the past, this is very very bad. They’ve got nothing to gauge it off to say it used to be worse, its terrible.”

The dance choreographer said he is also backing Katie Price’s Track a Troll campaign against online bullying.
He added: “I agree with Katie Price, that people should use their IDs when signing up to social media and to be held accountable for everything you say on the internet.
“Anything you say on the internet should be able to be traced back to you, so you have to be accountable for it.”
Tom, who moved in with Bryony in December, said it’s been smooth sailing and hints that marriage could be on the cards.

He said: “It’s been good, it feels like we’ve been together for a lot longer than we have, It’s actually gone a lot better than I thought it would.
“I’ve always been like very strict on the fact that I wouldn’t get into a relationship if I didn’t think that potential was there.
“Unless I can see myself getting married to the person, I wouldn’t get into a relationship because I wouldn’t waste my time or the other person’s time. The fact that I am in a relationship with her means yeah.”
Tom, who appeared alongside his parents Tom Sr and Julie and sibling Shaun, said that he left the hit show to pursue other TV opportunities.

He explained: “Over the last year I have definitely grown a lot on social media and there are lot of opportunities that were coming in.
“Obviously with anything if you’re tied into something there are other opportunities you can’t take.
“I think Strictly would be really interesting because I’ve danced professionally but I’ve never done ballroom stuff, I’ve always done street and hip hop stuff. So I’d like to see if that can carry over or not, that would be really interesting.
“I’d love to do I’m a Celeb, I think that would be fun. I’d also love to see how I do on SAS Who Dares Wins.”
