Coronation Street’s Colson Smith reveals heartbreaking reason he never learned to swim

Corrie’s Colson Smith has revealed the heartbreaking reason he never learned to swim on The Games.

The actor – who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap – is taking part in the new series alongside a host of other well known faces.

The sports show sees the celebs take on a variety of sports, one of which was swimming.

However, Colson, 23, revealed he had only learned to swim five weeks ago in preparation for the show.

In the last couple of years Colson has lost an incredible 10 stone after taking up running, and he admitted it was his weight that had stopped him getting in the pool during his school years.

He said: “In school I hated swimming because I was the fat kid. So I used to basically refuse to swim.

“When I found out about this I didn’t want to do it, and then I kind of said it’s about time I stopped saying no because of the way that I look and the way that I feel.

“This competition is kind of gonna be me versus me, I just want to show myself that Colson has no limits and he really is just gonna keep pushing it all the way.”

EastEnder’s fans in shock

EASTENDER’s fans were left in shock last night as Ben Mitchell continued his revenge attacks leaving his nephew beaten on the floor.

The mechanic – who is played by actor Max Bowden in the BBC soap – has been carrying out revenge attacks on homophobes for months now.

Ben chased a suspected homophobe into an alley, and brutally attacked the man.

But when he gave him another kicking and turned his body over Ben was horrified to see that he hadn’t attacked the homophobe.

Instead he had just attacked his nephew Peter Beale who was also wearing a red hoody. 

Fans were left fuming at Ben with many taking to Twitter to express their anger.

One said: “Ben Mitchell is so unlikable.”

Whilst another said: “Ben Mitchell is an absolute mess”

Fiz Stape humiliated as she’s exposed as serial killer John Stape’s wife

Fiz Stape’s past comes back to haunt her as her connection to serial killer John Stape comes to light.

However, the Coronation Street character mentioned nothing of their marriage to her new partner, Phill.

In scenes due on our screens next week, Fiz could be exposed by none other than his friends.

While Fiz is in the Underworld factory, Michael’s fascinated to realise she was married to John Stape the serial killer.

Awash with humiliation and unable to cope, Fiz storms out.

It’s a family affair on Coronation Street this week

Amelia Flanagan joined her two siblings on the Cobbles this week.

Amelia Flanagan is best known for playing April Windsor and daughter of Marlon Dingle in Emmerdale, but she swapped the Dales for the UK’s most famous street this week.

She won her first Inside Soap award when she was just 6-years-old, and now at 13, she shares the spotlight with her two younger siblings who star on Coronation Street.

Her 11-year-old twin siblings, Isabella and William star as Hope Stape and Joseph Brown were filming, while Amelia just came to visit.

The lookalike siblings were all smiles as they posed for a photo with Jude Riordan, since shared by Jude’s mum on Instagram.

Gail Platt and Eileen Grimshaw will put their differences aside to mark the occasion.

The scenes will air on Friday 20 May to mark five years since the bombing took place.

Coronation Street is filmed in Manchester and referenced the event two days after the Manchester bombing with the words ‘We Stand Together’ shown on screen.

A permanent tribute was included on the show in memory of superfan, Martyn Fett, who was killed in the bombing.

A furious Peter takes things to another level by punching Dr Thorne.

Unfortunately for him, the police soon come to the surgeon’s rescue and arrest him on suspicion of assault, and Peter is soon charged while at the police station.
