I’M A Celebrity bosses have signed up ex-EastEnders star Jessica Plummer for this year’s show.
Producers believe Jessica, whose character Chantelle was murdered last month, will add some glamour to the show starting next month in Wales.
A source said: “Soap stars always do well in the show.
“Just look at Jessica’s Enders’ predecessor Jacqueline Jossa last year.
“Bosses are delighted to be able to convince her to take part.
“It’s a great move for both parties as she’s just left the soap and this is a great opportunity for her personality to be shown to millions.
“She hopes it will be a real stepping stone for her career.”
Jessica joined EastEnders last year as hairdresser Chantelle, and became a fans’ favourite.
Producers hoped the storyline would show the devastating domestic impact of the Covid pandemic.
It is also expected to land Jessica with a string of acting awards.
She was previously a member of British girl group Neon Jungle, who had a top 10 album.
Their second single Braveheart peaked at No4 in 2014.
I’m A Celebrity, hosted as usual by Ant and Dec is expected to start in just under a month.
The coronavirus pandemic means it will be held in Gwrych Castle at Abergele, Conwy — the first time it has moved from its traditional home in the Australian jungle.
It is thought all the celebrities, hosts and crew will isolate two weeks before it airs on ITV to ensure no social distancing will be required.
